WARCRAFT MOVIE - Release date: June 10, 2016 - Director: Duncan Jones

Raimi no more

divider-postsam-raimiAfter many months of no information that is directly connected with Warcraft movie production, finally something. It seems that Sam Raimi is not directing WoW movie anymore. Even though there wasnt any offical statement from Legendary Pictures about change in director, if there is a smoke, there must be a fire somewhere also 🙂

After Sam Raimi’s press conference for the Oz: The Great and Powerful at San Diego Comic-Con, CraveOnline was able to go right up to Raimi for a follow-up question.

“Actually, they don’t have me directing World of Warcraft anymore because when I took the Oz job, they had to move on to another director,” Raimi said. “They had to start making it.”

So if Sam Raimi himself says he is out, well I kinda believe him. This for WoW movie actually does good, cuz the project was waiting Raimi along with some other things that I think got solved (like money that Legendary Pictures got for their own movie projects).

The casting will speed up, some main actors are already in projects for some time anyway. Now the question is, he will take Raimi’s spot on the helm of WoW movie?

I checked IMDB for great directors who look promising and how they stand with future projects. Nolan for example is tied only for Man of Steel which is pretty much already done and he is “just” producer. Jon Favreau doesnt have a busy schedule also and he done pretty good job with Iron Man movies. Joss Whedon obviously done great job with Avengers even though it was his first big movie.

Also I wouldnt mind to see Guillermo del Toro‘s work with Warcraft lore, but he is kinda in work with Pinocchio movie after he finished Pacific Rim (next year potential blockbuster). From the names before mentioned I believe Duncan Jones was pretty interested for WoW movie, he is a gamer you cant blame him 🙂

In one interview he said he was jealous at Raimi, well Duncan theres a second chance now 🙂

He done Moon when Raimi was signed and after that he directed pretty good Source Code, so I wouldnt mind if a young director with a great passion and idea takes over the World of Warcraft project. At least you would know his heart is in it.
