Ben Foster talks about Warcraft pushing the technology

While promoting his latest movie The Program, during interview with IGN Ben Foster talked about Warcraft movie and how technology used to make it is something that has not been done yet (I just hope it will be much better than last Hobbit movie).

ben-foster“Duncan Jones did something very intelligent. He made a lot of practical sets, so when you’re in the woods, or the forest, he’s built the forest. When you’re in the castle, he’s built the castle. It’s a huge, huge movie. They invested in pushing technology in a way that I’ve never seen. Duncan Jones loves the game, played the game; it was surrounded by people who have spent years it would seem of their lives in the Warcraft world. It’s spooky, because I didn’t know anything about the game. But you talk to people and they talk about hours that they’ve put in. It was made by people who have lived very intimately with the source material.

What’s most exciting is that it’s about humanising the characters. So if we have a creature, they’re able to track eyes now, and the way eyes dilate. It’s no longer an interpretation; it’s fairly accurate so if these are the windows to the soul, you’re watching a performance come to life. There’s an intimacy that I’ve never seen before in fantasy film. I think Duncan’s done something very special with it. I don’t even think this is about a video game. This is about old metaphors, old stories. It’s based in myths, and has some amazing technology advancements that I think people will really dig.”

Ben Foster playing Medivh

divider-postwarcraft-movie-news11divider-post

After filming of Warcraft movie finished and project went into post-production, some actors seems to keep the flame burning with little bits of info on their characters just to keep us of not forgeting that movie is still in production, since it will be in post production for like year and a half 🙂

IGN had a one on one with Ben Foster about his role in the Warcraft movie:

ben-foster“The character in Warcraft that I play is named Medivh. He’s a mage, which is essentially a sorcerer,” Foster revealed. “He came up in a time protecting an area, and the way he protected this area was through magic. As peace returned to this land he took a break. He hung up his staff, so to speak, or let his guns get dusty. We meet him as his friends are returning asking for his help in a battle.”

“What’s exciting about Duncan Jones‘ take on this video game is that it shows both sides of the war. It shows both sides of a conflict, which is exciting to me. It’s not just a video game turned into a movie. It’s asking, hopefully, an important question of, where do we limit our compassion for what we consider to be the bad guys?”

Warcraft Casting Announcement

divider-postwarcraft-movie-news10divider-post
Few hours ago Legendary Pictures posted an official press release with a details about lead cast of the Warcraft movie. I was little surprised since some of the names that has been word about suddenly vanished and some that had been no words at all signed the deal. Well, I guess thats how Hollywood business works – some get skrewed some sign deals.

Anyway, the names on the list are Travis Fimmel, Paula Patton, Toby Kebbell, Rob Kazinsky and Ben Foster with Dominic Cooper in negotiations. First two names were known from previous negotiation rumors, but others are pretty new. I’ll be honest, I am little dissapointed about this cast, especially since it’s a lead cast. Except Dominic Cooper all other actors are kind of meh for my pick.
