WARCRAFT MOVIE - Release date: June 10, 2016 - Director: Duncan Jones

Duncan Jones reaction on leaked Warcraft teaser trailer

For few days there has been a blurry, crappy, low quality Warcraft teaser trailer (at leasted looks like one) available to see. Usually I don’t post those things on the site since they get removed fast and put the links only to FB page. This kinda sticked around prolly cause it’s on some romanian server as a direct video file. You can check it out here

It does look pretty good, in a matter of content at least πŸ™‚

Even Duncun Jones commented on it on his twitter

Legendary Pictures already said they will show the trailer in November. BlizzCon I assume, but maybe this leaked trailer at least make them release a teaser before a proper trailer on BlizzCon.

Legendary released VR teaser & SDCC panel pictures

Things are heating up for this weekend Comic Con. Legendary released a Virtual Reality teaser of the Stormwind while you fly over it on the back of a gryphon. And I must say it does look kinda bigger than I remember it from my flying over’s πŸ™‚

Here are some images from the Stormwind VR, images are little blurry but so was the whole YT video cuz it wasn’t made for it. For those who didn’t manage to check the video, this is the best I can. Kudos to mmo-champion.com for keeping some footage πŸ™‚

Also they put a bunch of Legendary panel pictures with statues of Alliance soldiers (I might be some are big name, but hard to tell) and Orgrim Doomhammer (that was easy to tell). Seems they really are preparing for a big Warcraft event this time. Ofc, the recording will not be allowed as usual, but at least I hope they will share the trailer with rest of us shortly cuz I’m sick of those “comic con exclusive” bullshit we get last few years.

Duncan Jones interview with Mtime on Daniel Wu and Warcraft movie

Chinese movie news site Mtime got Duncan Jones to talk about Warcraft movie and actor Daniel Wu. We need to thank Manmademovies.co.uk for posting translation of the interview πŸ™‚
There is no surprise really that Chinese press got interested in the Warcraft movie. First, Daniel Wu is a big star over there even though in Warcraft he plays Gul’dan and he won’t look very human but still he is a famous name. Second, Warcraft games are pretty popular in China, a big chunk of WoW player base is from there.Third and also important one, Legendary Pictures have their sister company in China. Overall, China is very important market for Warcraft movie and that’s why there is no surprise that one of rare Duncan Jones interview about Warcraft lands on Chinese news site. They are huge fanbase πŸ™‚

On Warcraft current progress…

We are coming to the very end of 2014, and the film has been shot and we are finishing the editing. There are so many complicated special effects in the movie, that it will take a while longer before the film will be complete. The special effects will be very impressive though. They are being done by ILM, who are best known for their work on the Star Wars movies. Heading up the work are visual effects supervisor Bill Westenhoffer, who won an oscar for his work with Ang Lee on Life of Pi, and Jeff White at ILM, who made the Hulk such an excellent and believable character in the Avengers movie. While this work is going on, music composer Ramin Djawadi continues to build up a magnificent score for the film. As we complete our edit, Ramin’s music is being tailored to the cut. I am very excited. Day by day our film gets closer to being finished! Warcraft is scheduled to be released in March of 2016, so we have 14 months to make the film as good as we can! I very much hope you will enjoy it.

Warcraft vs. Mass Effect Adaptation

Duncan Jones said on his Twitter that shooting is half way done, so 45 day more. There was some media at the set also, just they have to keep quiet for the moment since it seems there is a NDA on every bit of information from the set. Kinda sucks, even though with other Blizzard properties it’s usually like that, except there was always some datamining so things got out ahead of time. It would be pretty hard to datamine a movie production….ahh well πŸ™‚

Anyway, IGN had a chat with Legendary CEO Thomas Tull about their hot game movie rights, Warcraft and Mass Effect. Here is a part of the interview…

IGN: Given the expansive nature of World of Warcraft, what was the key for you guys in coming up with a story structure that worked as a film? I know a lot of people struggled with that for a long time.

Tull: Oh, yeah. That’s great. So here’s what that boils down to: At Legendary, if our logo’s on it, we want it to be great, not just an okay way to spend two hours. So with Warcraft, the reason it took so long to develop is because the world does not need another bad video game movie.

IGN: Yup.

Tull: Frankly, our attitude from the beginning — we have an amazing relationship with the guys at Blizzard, and they care very much about their universe as storytellers — if it were just the game, we would not have known how to make Warcraft, which is a video game experience, into a movie. But, because they’ve done such an incredible job of building out the lore — they have something like a hundred books — there’s a real story and deep history behind the characters and races and everything. So that’s really what we mined and got into. Like, what are some of the main characters that make this such an interesting universe, and what are the stories that we want to tell? We were finally able to get a script and story that we felt was incredibly compelling, and that’s how we’re able to get a director like Duncan Jones.

Travis Fimmel joining the Warcraft cast?

Travis Fimmel was mentioned before in the possible cast rumors few weeks ago and it seems he is close to join the Warcraft cast. Variety reports from their source that after a lengthy search, Legendary Pictures has found one of its leading men.

No formal offer has been presented yet but sources (usually means actors agent) say he is their guy for one of the four leads in the movie. Travis Fimmel currently is the star of History Channel’s “Vikings”, which is at this moment in production for season two. What character or plot Fimmel will play are still unknown.
